What’s Next?
In a recent interview with three prominent master weavers
of this area, it became very clear that the entire handloom
community of this area views Maheshwar handloom and All
India Handloom as having a very bright future.
“In twenty years or less, there will be no more master weaver,
middlemen like ourselves,” they say proudly. They predict that
most of the weavers will be sufficiently enabled to deal directly
with their markets, both in India and abroad. If this happens,
then Maheshwar and many other handloom centres can look
forward to a bright future.
