he craft of hand-block printing – right from the selection
of cloth to the crafting of blocks, the preparation of the
cloth and of dyes, and then the process itself that involves
numerous stages spread over days – demands expertise and
experience. Our father Mohammed Yusuf Khatri is a respected
and renowned master craftsman specialising in Bagh hand-block
printing. He has received national and international awards in
recognition of his superlative work, his contribution towards
preserving and evolving the craft, and sharing of his knowledge
with others. His work and ethos are an inspiration for block
printers and his textiles are appreciated by textile lovers.
Hand-block printing is an art special-
ised by the Khatri community that is
striving hard for its revival.
