Ashok Kewat’s Recollections
Ashok has been with REHWA since its inception in 1979 and
said, “Ganesh always got along well with everyone and took all
of us forward together in REHWA. I was fifteen when I joined
REHWA as a
chaprassi
(peon). I remember that, at that time
he was handling everything from raw material purchases,
designing, loom repairs and set-up to accounts even. He also
trained everyone in everything.
Before I came to REHWA, I was working in a milk distribution
store. So when I was training to measure handloom fabric for
my new job, by mistake I wrote the measurement in litres, not
metres. Ganesh corrected me and we always laughed about
that; but he never made me feel bad about anything...”
