Mastering the Art
As I grew up in a home where Patan Patolas were woven, I watched my
paternal grandfather Dahayabhai Devchand Salvi and father Mafatlal
Dahayabhai Salvi who was also my guru, dyeing yarns and weaving at
work, I slowly learnt the art. My mother, sisters and I would help my
grandfather and father in different tasks related to the processes. As my
school was close to my home, during the one-hour lunch break I would
come home, have lunch and assist my father.
