A.N. Sharma - Author of the famed Bajanaama: A Study of Early Indian Gramophone Records, an extensive project that has earned its place in posterity, probes further deep into India’s sound recording past in The Wonder that was the Cylinder. From the late 19th century - the era of the phonograph and the wax cylinder - he brings to light rare cylindrical recordings of legendary Indian artistes throughout the ages. Currently, Sharma is an officer with the Indian Revenue Service and a serving Commissioner of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax in Mumbai.
